How to Pick a Pepper Steak Sauce
- 1). Determine which sauce to use. There are two types of steak sauce: marinades or sauces added after cooking. A marinade is a sauce that the meat soaks in for a few hours to a full day to give the meat added flavor. A sauce added after cooking is similar to gravy.
- 2). Select a preferred flavor. Pepper steak is slightly spicy due to the peppercorns but steak sauce can change its flavor. For example, a wine marinade will add a richer flavor, while an oyster sauce will make the steak saltier. Decide what flavor you prefer and choose a sauce accordingly. Dark sauces are often salty while red-or white-colored sauces are richer or drier, respectively.
- 3). Identify food allergies. When cooking for others, ask your guests if they have food allergies. Make sure your sauce does not contain a dangerous ingredient.
- 4). Buy the steak sauce. Sauces are available in any grocery store or store that sells products with long shelf lives, such as Walmart or Target. Either pour the sauce over the raw steak and marinate for a few hours before cooking or add the sauce on top of the cooked steak.
