How to Ensure Shoelaces Don't Come Untied

    Tying a Reef Knot

    • 1). Cross your shoelaces so they are on opposite sides. Tuck the right lace under the left lace and pull it out on the left side.

    • 2). Create a loop with the lace in your right hand.

    • 3). Wrap the lace in your left hand around the front of the loop in your right hand.

    • 4). Pull the lace in your left hand through the opening under the loop in your right hand to make the second loop.

    • 5). Pull both loops tight to complete the knot. If your knot lies flat across the shoe horizontally, it is tied correctly.
