How to Make a 3D Model of an Electromagnetic Wave

    • 1). Saw the wooden dowel in half so that you have two 1 1/2-foot pieces. Place a dab of wood glue in the exact center of one of the dowel pieces, then place the center of other dowel on top of that wood glue dot to form a large plus sign. Wrap the center of this plus sign with tape so that the structure is rigid. Allow it to set for about four hours so the glue can harden.

    • 2). Tape one end of the rubber tube to the left end of the horizontal part of the wooden dowel structure. Bend the tube upwards so that you form a hump shape like an upside-down 'U." Then, bend the tube downward so that you form a U shape that goes below the horizontal part of the dowel structure. Continue this bending up and down until you reach the right side of the horizontal wooden dowel. You will have formed a wave with the rubber hose. Tape down this wave shape at every area where it touches the dowel structure.

    • 3). Draw and cut out ten 4-inch long by 1-inch wide arrows out of each of the poster boards with the marker and scissors. Tape the blue arrows to the horizontal dowel with the pointed ends upward. Four blue arrows should go on each side, spaced out evenly. Also, tape a few arrows directly onto the vertical part of the dowel. Next, tape the red arrows to the blue arrows. Each of the red arrows should be pointing downward diagonally.
