How to Make a Topographical Map Model

    • 1). Place a sheet of cardboard onto a flat surface, such as a table or desktop.

    • 2). Combine 4 cups of flour and 2 cups of water in a bowl. Mix well.

    • 3). Cut newspaper into strips that measure 3 inches tall and 6 inches long.

    • 4). Crumple up the newspaper and tape it down onto the cardboard where you want there to be hills and mountains.

    • 5). Dip the strips of newspaper into the flour mixture, and drape them over the cardboard structure. Cover the entire structure with four to five layers. Allow the structure to dry completely.

    • 6). Paint the topographical map with acrylic paint. Paint rivers and lakes in the areas where there are valleys in between the hills and mountains. Allow the paint to dry before displaying the map.
