- 1). Use a screwdriver to remove any floor molding that covers or holds down the edge of the floating vinyl floor.
- 2). Unsnap the damaged tile from the tiles that surround it.
- 3). Check to make sure the replacement vinyl tile matches up with the pattern in the floor, if there are various colors or patterns of tiles on the floor.
- 4). Write numbers on the backs of the tiles if the damaged area is in the middle of the floor, or the tiles come in different sizes and patterns. The numbers will help you remember where each tile goes as you reconnect the floor.
- 5). Snap a new piece of vinyl tile in place.
- 6). Place any floor molding back in place.
