DIY Woodworking Box Fabrication

    • 1). Build a wooden box frame using two 6-by-6-inch pinewood boards and two 12-by-6-inch pinewood boards. Apply wood glue to each corner of the frame, and hold the piece together by driving staples down each corner of the frame with a staple gun. The frame will measure 12 inches long, 6 inches high and 6 inches deep.

    • 2). Attach a 12-by-6-inch board over the frame to cover one side of the frame. Attach this board in the same way that you attached the other boards that make up the frame--with wood glue and staples. You now have a wooden box, but it needs to be finished.

    • 3). Smooth out the wood with sandpaper until each corner, face and edge of the box is smooth. Chisel off any excess glue that seeped out of the corners with a chisel and hammer.

    • 4). Apply wood stain with a brush to protect the wood. Let the stain dry for about an hour.

    • 5). Insert small woodworking tools such as chisels, hammers, drill bits, pencils and chalk into your new woodworking box.
