Video: How to Make a Honey-Basted Ham

Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Monte Mathews from Monte's Ham and today, I want to show you how to honey glaze a ham. We're honey glazing a six pound boneless ham. We're going to make this glaze, it's so simple, you won't believe this. You first take one-third of a cup of brown sugar, and we add one-third of a cup of honey. Now, this happens to be a very good local honey. Remember that your ingredients are always about how good things will taste. So, try to use the best possible ingredients, and this is a wonderful local honey. Well, here we are, mixing these two together and then, there's the magic ingredient that helps the glaze to really adhere. And that is, cornstarch. We have two teaspoons of cornstarch, we mix it in with the honey and the brown sugar. And we have this very, very dense mixture of honey and brown sugar. This ham is already been studded with cloves, so we don't have any issue with that. We're going to get that great clove flavor and we're going to just literally paint this on. So, you want to cover this ham completely with this beautiful honey glaze. And then, we're going to put this into a 325 degree oven. And when we're half hour in, we're going to pull it out and we're going to apply more glaze. I'm Monte of MontesHam.com, and I've just shown you how to honey glaze a ham.
