Nested Bean Weighted Swaddle Review

The Nested Bean Weighted Swaddle is a really neat invention when it comes to providing a bit of that added feel of touch to your baby while they are still young and so sensitive to touch. This may also be really great for babies who feel the need to have some weight on them as a comfort measure. The swaddling, at least in my mind is secondary, though it's a nice blanket as well. This is a wonderful combination of practical and mind-blowingly simple but effective.

The Swaddling Blanket

The Nested Bean Weighted Swaddle as a swaddling blanket alone might leave you feeling ho hum about this product. It's fine, it works, but it doesn't stand out from the competition as a mere blanket. What causes it to stand out is the weighted sections! I love that it's fairly simple to use, so those middle of the night swaddles can leave some parents befuddled. And it's hard to not cover the feet with the way the feet are completely surrounded in a pouch like area. This is great because cold feet are sad on babies and if your kids are like mine, keeping socks on the smallest of the small is near impossible. The velcro can be a bit noisy, but works well at keeping it closed. I just flipped the sides I used so that the velcro didn't connect. That solved the problem!

If it's warmer weather, just remember not to bundle your baby in layer after layer of clothing under the blanket. A simple diaper or one piece body suit will do in warmer weather.

The Weight of the Matter

What really set the Nested Bean Weighted Swaddle apart is the weighted portions.

These are lightly weighted to help your baby feel safe and secure. It's just a tiny bit of weight, akin to sleeping with a hand on your back when you were little. (But not in a creepy Zaky Hand Pillow way, but I digress.) This can really help your little one who needs that special attention. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. I really expected this to be gimmicky and was prepared to dislike the Nested Bean Swaddle.

Care

Babies throw up, poop, and have lots of other ways to stink up or mess up their blankets. This blanket really held up in the daily washing I gave it. There wasn't any pilling of the fabric, even on the delicate looking edges and decorations. You can even throw it in the dryer, though I'd suggest a very light cycle. It didn't take much to dry the blanket and the weighted parts dried without any issues. You can also air dry it, which happened over night for our family, but that may vary a bit based on your weather and humidity. It does say that you can iron. My advice as the mom of more than one - if you want to iron your baby blankets, please come help me, I need it! Seriously, you can, but don't need to do that. I didn't have any really noticeable wrinkles, though my standards are low and tolerance for wrinkles are really high. Just pull it out of the dryer quickly if you're concerned, and honestly, you'll enjoy this product enough that you'll likely not leave it in there too long.

Who Buys This?

This is a great gift. I'm not sure a first time mom would get why the weighted part makes sense unless she had a lot of child care experience. But this is a great baby shower present from an experienced mom to another mom with or without that experience. It's also sweet looking and gender neutral to make it great for any baby.
