How to Draw a Face in Photoshop CS3

    • 1). Open Photoshop CS3. Click the "File" menu. Click "New." Type "MyFace" into the "Name" box. Type the dimensions for the face image, such as "4" for each, into the "Width" and "Height" boxes. Select "inches" from the dimensions menus. Select "White" from the "Background Contents" menu. Click the "OK" button. When the workspace opens, pull down the "View" menu and click "Fit on Screen" to maximize your drawing space.

    • 2). Click the "Color Picker," the top of the two overlapping squares at the bottom of the "Tools" pane. Select a flesh color for the face and click "OK."

    • 3). Click the "Pencil" tool, located in the middle of the "Tools" pane. If you don't see the pencil, right-click the paintbrush icon and select "Pencil Tool" from the fly-out menu. These two frequently-used tools share the same icon.

    • 4). Draw the outline of the face on the "MyFace" box. Add ears and a neck as desired. Optional: Click the "Paint Bucket" tool, which looks like a paint bucket in the middle of the "Tools" palette. Click inside the face drawing to fill it with the flesh color.

    • 5). Select a lip color, such as red or pink, from the "Color Picker" box and click "OK." Draw the outline of the person's lips in a smile, frown, smirk or other expression. Use the "Paint Bucket" tool to fill in the lips if desired.

    • 6). Click a black or dark gray color in the "Color Picker." Draw the outline of the nose and outline of the eyes. Switch to the iris color for the person's eyes in the "Color Picker" and add in the eye color.

    • 7). Select a paint color similar to the person's hair -- if drawing a bald head, choose a paint color for eyebrows and/or any facial hair. Draw the hair and facial hair where applicable.

    • 8). Add any additional accents by switching paint colors such as jewelry, hair clips, facial tattoos, scars, birth marks or piercings.

    • 9). Click the "File" menu. Click "Save As." Choose a place to save the face and click the "Save" button.
