    Protein Bars

    • Protein bars contain similar ingredients and provide similar benefits as a shake, but are more satisfying for some people. There are a wide array of protein bars on the market. Don't pick up just any protein bar. Look at how many grams of protein you are getting compared to the total calories. Some bars are high in unnecessary calories. However, if you are trying to bulk up, make sure you are getting the right kind of protein to help your muscles rebuild themselves after a workout. Or bake your own protein bars, which are often healthier for you since they lack all of the preservatives contained in store-bought versions.

    Protein Juice

    • Consider protein juice if you don't mind drinking your protein but don't love the idea of a milky shake. Rather than deal with chalky protein powder, purchase protein juice, which is often fruit-flavored rather than the standard chocolate and vanilla flavors of protein shakes. Certain retailers make their own premixed versions of protein juice.

    Protein From Natural Foods

    • The best way to get protein is from natural food sources rather than processed bars or drinks. Eat lean meats like fish or chicken. Have an egg-white scramble. Choose unsweetened, plain yogurt--a food that is surprisingly high in protein. Snack on a handful of nuts or eat a piece of cheese. If you are a vegetarian, get your protein from beans. Soy milk and tofu are good sources of protein, as are other types of legumes. Ingest plenty of protein by eating a clean and healthy diet.
