How to Get My Awareness Blog Advertised

    • 1). Create your awareness blog if you don't already have one. Visit a free blog provider, such as Blogger or WordPress.org -- or, if you own your own Web space and are comfortable designing a new blog from scratch, create one from the ground up.

    • 2). Visit the websites of local and national organizations that support the cause for which you want to raise awareness. If your blog is about women's advocacy issues, for example, you might consult The National Organization for Women and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund nationally and any local or state organizations that cater to women's issues in your region. Contact an organization representative to have your blog listed on the organization's websites and ask about any upcoming events where you can come, network and tell your story, which allows influential members of the organization the opportunity to advertise your blog if they like it.

    • 3). Contact local media outlets, particularly if any have recently run stories that correspond to your cause. If your blog documents the strife of homeless in your area, for example, and the news station has recently run a story about a controversial new law regarding treatment of the homeless, contact the station and ask that your blog be featured in a follow-up segment.

    • 4). Network with fellow awareness bloggers, whether or not they deal in your specific subject area. Word-of-mouth advertising is in many ways still the best way to get your message out. If other awareness bloggers with loyal readerships mention and link to your blog, the chances of people clicking to it may be higher than if the blog is advertised to a more general audience.
