The internet is worldwide.
That's why it's called the worldwide web.
But have you ever wondered how you can multiply your contacts in your local area? If you're a person who needs to reach a certain contact base locally, I'm going to give you a few tips on how you can explode your local contact base and continue to grow.
You must be first be aware, and take advantage of the vast array of online social networks, in which your target market inhabits.
Just think, if you could find a place, whether online or off line, where a large amount of people in your target market are hanging out and interacting.
Wouldn't that be a great place showcase your business? Once you have identified this very important information, now it's time to find some social networks where your market may be.
Some examples include Facebook, Twitter, Xing, and the list goes on.
Let's assume that you are an accountant, with a specialty in law firms.
Online social networks make it so very easy to target your market.
In most cases, you can go to an OSN and tell them who you're looking for, like lawyers in a certain city.
Once you get your search results, you can scan through and pick out people to send friend requests to.
When sending a request, you can always attach a note that should be very personable.
Once you have a good personal message, you can easily copy and paste it into notepad and use it every time you send a friend request.
You may find this time consuming, but can do it a little bit at a time, like sending 50 per day for an entire work week.
That's 250 personalized friend/contact requests sent to your target market.
If you can stay consistent, by the end of one month, you'll have sent a 1,000 friend requests and will get responses from a small percentage of them.
These are the people that you want to contact and communicate with.
You can even set up a lunch or a meeting to meet locally.
I am a huge advocate of meeting contacts and people face to face.
There is nothing like a 1 on 1, in person meeting.
Great things can happen in these 1 on 1 meetings.
Distant or cold relationships become warm and very friendly in the wink of an eye.
It's always good to know your conversions when it comes to the value of a good client and this is an excellent way to begin the process.
You also need to know the details and the steps involved in communicating in online social networks as not to insult anyone and present yourself as friendly and non-threatening.
When it comes to business, remember that friendliness and professionalism is what it's all about.
You can begin right where you stand to explode your local contacts base at the touch of your fingers, using your keyboard.
