How to Change a Barcode
- 1). Write down the data that you wish to use for the new barcode.Open your browser and visit barcode-generator.org, barcoding.com or barcodesoft.com (see Resources) to download a barcode-generating software program.
- 2). View the program interface at the website's homepage. Locate the space to enter the barcode data and type the information that you need to encode. Click on the "Generate Barcode" button to create the barcode image. View the image and save it by clicking on "Save Image As" in the resulting drop-down menu. Pick the location where you want to save the image in the following window and click on"Save."
- 3). Right-click on the barcode image that you saved and click "Print" in the resulting menu to print the barcode. Choose the right type of page layout and paper size in the "Photo Printing Wizard" window and follow instructions to complete the printing process.
- 4). Cut the printed barcode to the size that you need and glue it over the old barcode. Make sure that none of the black lines are smudged or wrinkled. Scan the barcode using a barcode scanner plugged into its corresponding port at the back of your computer to check that it scans correctly.
