Ways to Store Plastic Grocery Bags

    Tissue Box

    • A tissue box makes a good storage device for plastic grocery bags. The opening at the top allows you to take out a plastic bag the way you would a tissue. They are also small enough to not take up much space but large enough to hold a good number of grocery bags.

    Milk Jug

    • Cut a 2- to 3-inch wide slit into a gallon-size, plastic milk jug. The slit should stretch lengthways down the milk jug. Insert the plastic bags through the top of the jug, where the lid goes. The plastic bags will be accessible through the slit.

    Trash Can

    • If you regularly use plastic grocery bags as bin liners, keep plastic bags at the bottom of the bin. When the bin is full, the replacement bin liner is sitting at the bottom of the trash can. For this storage method, it is important to make sure the plastic bag has no holes in it; otherwise wet trash from the bin can seep into your store of plastic bags.

    'Taming' the bag

    • Instead of storing the plastic bags inside something, this method simply makes the bags smaller and neater, making them easier to manage. Fold the bag lengthways three times until you have a long, skinny bag. With one hand hold onto the handle, and with the other hold onto the bottom. Start to twist the plastic, still keeping hold of both sides until only a small part of the handle is left untwisted. Slip this handle over the twisted part of the bag. The bag will now be looped, making it neater to store.
