Novel Bone-Targeting Agents in Prostate Cancer
We conducted PubMed searches using the MeSH terms 'prostatic neoplasms', with subheadings drug therapy and mortality, AND 'bone-targeted therapy'. We limited our search to phase II and III clinical trials and review articles. Only papers published in English between 2000 and 2013 were included. Bibliographies were reviewed to extract the other relevant data. Older articles were also included to draw attention to pathological, clinical and epidemiological issues. Notably, in view of the rapid development in this field, we searched for abstracts that were presented in American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and genitourinary ASCO along with European Society of Medical Oncology annual meetings.
