Relating the Emperor"s New Clothes to the American Scene
Why did the little boy in the story of the Emperor's New Clothes see that it was wrong that the emperor was wearing no clothes while the rest of the kingdom continued to praise the king? Could it be that the little boy was like the "little children" of faith in Matthew chapter 18? Does this story have any application to American society today? If you remember the story in question you will remember that the people feared upsetting the emperor, and that is why they did not recognize the evil of his immodesty.
If you will consider the story of the faith of little children from Matthew chapter 18 you will understand that the little children trusted God to take care of their every need.
They did not expect earthly rulers to stand in the place of God, unlike the vast majority of the American population today.
Many Republicans are shouting amen right now, as they recognize the trust that many are putting in our new president as the faith that a religious cult exhibits toward a false messiah.
America's slide toward state worship did not begin with President Obama, and you cannot say that the people's worship of the state is a group inhabited strictly by Democrats.
There is no doubt that the Democrat Woodrow Wilson was the intellectual stimulus behind the religion of statism, and that the Democrats Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson each accelerated the policies of statism through their programs.
However, the greatest manifestation of state worship can be seen in the religious faith that "secular" Republicans place in state education.
They have bought into the idea that education can solve society's every problem, and any suggestion that would inhibit state control of all education, including private education and home education, is seen as an affront to their messiah figure, albeit an institution.
On the other hand you can see a religious fervor from "religious" Republicans in the party itself.
They seem to expect Republicans to solve all of the "moral" problems of America.
Certainly as "ministers of God", elected officials will have a role in a Godly solution to America's ills.
However, a cursory look at the record of the Republican Party over the past 2 to 3 decades will reveal that they are not the answer to America's moral and ethical problems.
The answer is to simply trust the true and living creator of the universe, God Almighty.
In His word, the Bible, He has made it clear that all authority must rule by His precepts, and that if any authority tries to circumvent His authority, they and their charges will be judged for their arrogance.
There is a remnant in America with the faith of the boy who declared that the emperor has no clothes, and that this is evil (state worship is as evil as it gets; Ex.
20:3).
America will continue to experience the wrath of God until the authorities in this nation begin to see themselves as under the authority of the creator of the universe.
