The only things left after a bottle of wine has been consumed are the glass bottle and the cork. While the bottle can be thrown away or recycled, there are many things that the cork can be used for. These unique ways to reuse wine corks will add a whole new meaning to opening a bottle of wine.

    Wine Cork Wreath

    • Wine cork wreaths are popular among wine enthusiasts because they are the perfect piece of décor to place on the wall of a wine cellar, bar or kitchen. To make a wreath from wine corks, you will need a grapevine wreath, a hot glue gun and a lot of wine corks. Grapevine wreaths can be purchased at your local craft store. Simply glue wine corks to the wreath until the entire wreath is covered. If you desire, you can add plastic grapes and grape leaves to give the wreath more character. You can make your wreath even more unique by adding such things as ribbons and silk flowers.

    Wine Cork Baseboards

    • Separate your home from the rest by creating baseboards out of used wine corks. This project requires many used wine corks, strips of ¾-inch molding, a hot glue gun and a saw. First you will need to glue the bottom of the wine corks to the top of one strip of the molding. Cut the tops of the wine corks so that they are all the same height. Glue another strip of molding across the top of the wine corks. Once the glue has set, you can nail your new baseboard to the wall. The amount of molding and corks you will need depends on the amount of baseboard needed to do the project.

    Wine Cork Bath Mat

    • Freshen up your bathroom with a bath mat made from wine corks. The natural color of wine corks will complement most styles of bathroom décor. To make a bath mat out of used wine corks, you will need wine corks, a piece of nonadhesive shelf liner, a glue gun and a knife. To make a sturdier mat, you will need to cut all of the wine corks in half. Glue the wine corks flat side down onto the piece of shelf liner. Be sure you cut the shelf liner to size before gluing any corks onto it. Fill up the entire piece of liner with corks. You can place the corks in any pattern you want, but some patterns will require you to cut more corks to different sizes.
