Happiness is Living in the Present Moment (Part 2 of 2)
The topic at the table at the moment is staying in the now, living in the present.
Why do you want to live in the present? Because it's the only time you have.
What is the power of living in the present? In the present moment there is nothing to worry about.
There is nothing to fear.
In the present moment every thing is perfect.
I know that sounds really crazy because if you are in the middle of some kind of crisis situation you're thinking," Ali, you are just nuts! This isn't making any sense!" Hold on! Just stay with me here.
If you happen to find yourself in a crisis, you can jump in and react without thinking.
That often creates some kind of dire result.
But you have a choice not to react.
Instead you can respond.
You can take that split second to consider the consequence of any action you are going to take for yourself and for all involved.
Then go ahead and take the action.
When can you take the action? In the moment.
And when you're taking the action in the moment everything is perfect because you are living in that moment rather than fearing a certain result that you've stuck out in the future as a possible outcome.
See the difference? When you live in the now you can't experience fear because fear is taking feelings or memories from your past--getting into those feelings and saying, "Oh! That is going to happen again! I can tell by this situation--it's the same kind of thing that caused that other bad thing to happen!" You are putting your past in your future, misusing your imagination to accomplish both ends of that situation and, in doing that act, you create your fear.
Do you see how leaving the now, giving life to the past and then thinking about that past in the future takes you completely out of the present moment? Can you handle the current situation in your past? Can you handle it in your future? The only time you can possibly handle the current situation is right now.
