Natural Fruit Tree Worm Spray
- 1). Inspect the fruit tree and note all areas infested with the worm-like caterpillars. This gives you an idea of where the problem areas are located so you can thoroughly spray them.
- 2). Fill a pump-up sprayer that holds 1 to 2 gallons of fluids with 1 gallon of water. Double the amount of water and Bacillus thuringiensis if the fruit tree is especially large.
- 3). Shake the bottle of Bacillus thuringiensis concentrate to mix the contents.
- 4). Measure 1 to 4 tsp. of Bacillus thuringiensis and add it to the water in the sprayer. Using a stronger concentrate of the product works best on severe infestations, or worm-like caterpillars that are hard to kill.
- 5). Replace the pump-up sprayer's top, screwing it on tight. Shake the sprayer to mix the contents together.
- 6). Saturate the entire fruit tree with the mixture. Spray all sides of the foliage, branches, trunk and fruits. Apply the product on the soil beneath the tree in the event the worm-like caterpillars drop to the ground.
- 7). Reapply the Bacillus thuringiensis mixture in one week, if the worm-like caterpillars persist. Reapply if rain occurs soon after spraying the fruit tree, as it will wash the insecticide off.
