- 1). Launch the Filemaker Pro application and open the database you want to create the relational file in.
- 2). Open the "File" menu at the top of the screen, expand the "Define" submenu and choose the "Database" option.
- 3). Go to the "Relationships" tab at the top of the pop-up window.
- 4). Click on the plus symbol in the lower-left corner of the window.
- 5). Open the "File" drop-down menu and select the "Add File Reference" option.
- 6). Navigate to the location of the secondary database that you want to use in the relational file. Highlight the database and hit "Open."
- 7). Choose the table from the secondary database that you want to create the relational file with by highlighting it from the list of options.
- 8). Enter a name for the relationship in the text box and hit "OK" to create the relational file.
