Information on the Cadillac Escalade

    History

    • When Lincoln introduced the Navigator in 1998, Cadillac had a sense of urgency to get its own SUV on the market. The Escalade, modeled after the GMC Denali, was rushed through and introduced to the market in 1999. The vehicle was redesigned in 2002 to get it more in line with the usual Cadillac design.

    Size

    • The Escalade was at first a bit underpowered with a 5.3 liter engine. With the 2011 model, a 6.2L, V-8 engine was available that put out more than 400 horsepower, more than enough to power this three-ton vehicle. Three rows of seats give plenty of passenger room, but the rear seat must be removed to get the most out of cargo space.

    Features

    • The Escalade has many luxuries and creature comforts, starting with leather seats and high-quality stereo sound, CD player and satellite radio. Luxuries continue with a heated steering wheel. It has a computer hard drive and OnStar navigation system. Safety features include blind spot warning, rear bumper parking sensors and tire pressure monitoring.

    Cost

    • The 2011 Cadillac Escalade's Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price ranges from $63,160 to $84,880.
