How to Clear Auto-Complete From Address Bars
- 1). Open Internet Explorer, click "Tools" on the top menu and select "Internet Options" to open the "Internet Options" dialog box.
- 2). Click the "Content" tab in the "Internet Options" dialog box.
- 3). Click the "Settings" button in the "AutoComplete" section of the "Content" tab to open the "AutoComplete Settings" dialog box.
- 4). Click the "Delete AutoComplete History" button to open the "Delete Browsing History" dialog box.
- 5). Check all available options in the "Delete Browsing History" dialog box. Click the "Delete" button when done to delete the history and return to the "AutoComplete Settings" dialog box.
- 6). Uncheck all the boxes in the "AutoComplete Settings" dialog box to turn "AutoComplete" off. You can also selectively turn off individual options by removing the check from the check box next to the option. Click the "OK" button when you are done to return to the "Content" tab in the "Internet Options" dialog box.
- 7). Click the "OK" button in the "Internet Options" dialog box to close it.
- 1). Open Firefox, click "Tools" on the top menu and select "Options" to open the "Options" dialog box.
- 2). Select the "Privacy" icon in the "Options" dialog box.
- 3). Click the "Clear Your Recent History" link in the "Options" dialog box to open the "Clear Recent History" dialog box.
- 4). Select "Everything" in the pull down menu next to "Time Range to Clear" in the "Clear Recent History" dialog box.
- 5). Verify that all boxes are selected in the "Details" window in the "Clear Recent History" dialog box.
- 6). Select the "Clear Now" button in the "Clear Recent History" dialog box to clear your history and return to the "Options" dialog box.
- 7). In the "History" section of the "Privacy" page of the "Options" dialog box, click the downward arrow and select "Never Remember History" to turn off "AutoComplete."
- 8). Click the "OK" button to close the "Options" dialog window when you are done.
