With Miami to the south and Fort Lauderdale to the north, Hollywood, Florida, has sometimes struggled to make a name for itself. New York Times Travel writer Charles Passy calls the city "the last semi-affordable beach town left" on that stretch of Florida's shoreline. Despite its identity crisis, Hollywood is home to many restaurants from casual to high-end and sophisticated to eclectic. There is enough of a variety in the culinary scene that everyone is sure to find that one restaurant that they consider to be the best.

    Lola's On Harrison

    • Zagat calls Lola's the "culinary star of Harrison Street" and awarded it 24 out of 30 points for its food. The interior is chic and sophisticated with sleek and simple furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows and candles that lend a warm feel to the space. Chef and owner Michael Wagner serves contemporary American cuisine that is approachable rather than intimidating, reinventing classic comfort foods with vibrant new tastes.

The menu is designed to fit a variety of appetites and budgets, with appetizers and entrees available as half- or full-plates. For starters, try the Australian wagyu beef corn dog or the purple potato skins with sundried tomato crème fraiche. Popular entrees include the Coca Cola barbecued beef ribs with buttermilk onion rings and herb-creamed yellow corn or the whole wheat pappardelle Bolognese with hand-cut New York sirloin, San Marzano tomatoes and shaved Parmesan.
