I Cannot Hear a Samsung TV

    Mute

    • One of the most common reasons that you can't hear sound on your Samsung television is because the device is muted. Some Samsung TV models display the word "Mute" at the top of the screen. To check if the sound is muted, press the "Mute" button on the remote control. If it was muted, it may take a couple of seconds to hear sound again. It's still possible the volume is turned down too low.

    Volume

    • Check the volume on the television, as it may have been turned down during a previous session. Some Samsung TV models remember the volume setting between sessions. Press the volume up button on the remote to increase the volume. You'll see a volume indicator on the screen, which moves from left to right as the sound gets turned up.

    Audio Receiver

    • It's possible you won't hear the Samsung TV even after turning off the mute feature or increasing the sound volume. When there's still no audio, check external receivers, especially when the television is connected to a home audio system. Make sure the audio receiver is powered on and the volume is set to a reasonable level.

    Connections

    • Another reason there may be no audio while watching TV is due to a loose connection. A loose cable can cause a loss of sound. This includes composite, component, HDMI or optical audio cables that run from the back of the TV to a set of speakers or an audio receiver. Check each cable that runs from the TV to an external source, making sure each end is firmly plugged into its corresponding port.
