How to Search for Disabled Veterans Benefits

    • 1). Visit the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) website to search for disability benefits. You can even apply for benefits on the VA website, or if you have any questions, call 800-827-1000 to speak to a VA representative anywhere in the U.S. A VA representative or the VA website can help you locate the nearest VA office.

    • 2). Contact your state's VA department and request information on disabled veterans benefits. Your state's VA can also help you fill out any paperwork or locate assistance you might need in searching for and requesting disability benefits.

    • 3). Search the government website Disability.gov to find available veterans disability benefits information. This site serves a wide variety of disabled individuals and offers a strong support system for someone disabled and in need of help.

    • 4). Speak to a representative at your local Social Security Administration office or visit Social Security Online. The Social Security Administration serves both disabled civilians and veterans, so include the agency in your search for possible disabled benefits.
