How to Remove Wax Buildup on Laminate Floors

    • 1). Remove the dirt, dust and other surface debris from the laminate floor using a broom. Sweep the debris into a dustpan and discard in the nearest trashcan.

    • 2). Fill a 5-gallon bucket with 1-gallon of hot water. Pour 1 cup of ammonia and 1/2 cup of powdered laundry detergent into the bucket. Use a spoon to mix the items.

    • 3). Submerge a mop into the mixture. Place the mop on the floor and apply pressure so the mixture flows out of the mop. Repeat this step several times until you have flooded a small section of the flooring.

    • 4). Scrub the flooring vigorously with the mop. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you have removed the wax buildup from the small section. The wax buildup is removed when the yellowish tint is no longer visible on the flooring.

    • 5). Move to another small section of the laminate flooring. Repeat Steps 3, 4, and 5 until you have removed the all the wax from the flooring.

    • 6). Discard the contents of the bucket. Rinse the bucket and the mop clean with cool running water. Fill the bucket with cool water.

    • 7). Saturate the clean mop in the water and wring out the excess liquid. Rinse the laminate flooring with the mop. Wipe the floor clean with several towels.
