I found out about this campground in "California Camping" by Tom Stienstra, and I RV camped there in November 2009.
Describe your camping trip:
Very well organized and friendly campsite. Staff were extremely helpful. This was our first outing in our Westfalia camper, and we had mistakenly booked into a full hook-up site. The staff quickly reassessed the situation and put us on a lovely small partial hook-up site, refunding some of our money at the same time.
The campground caters mainly for RVs and cabins, but they also have some tent spaces. It is well organized, with a well stocked and competitively priced store, all-year heated outdoor pool, play area and entertainment. We were there over Thanksgiving and the staff organized a complimentary dinner and evening entertainment on the Friday night. The site is less than a mile from the beach, and we could hear the surf pounding in the background at night. Overall a great experience.
Pros: Friendly staff. Good, clean facilities.
Cons: Spaces are a little close together. I could imagine it gets crowded in the summer.
Nearby attractions: Santa Cruz Boardwalk, State beaches, Redwood groves, Roaring Camp steam train rides, hiking.
Further comments: I would definitely visit again.
