Many people use scanners to transfer items into a digital format in order to manipulate them on a computer. These scanned images are often used in a program known as Photoshop. If you are using Photoshop to scan an image, there are several tips that could help improve your scan quality. - If your scanner is dirty, you are going to have a dirty image as well. Before scanning, you should clean the scanning bed with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. This will remove any dirt from the scanning bed and make your images come out better.
- When you are in Photoshop and click on the scan button, a settings menu appears. It is important to correctly place these settings at the highest quality. To get the best image out of your scanner, set the bit-depth at 24-bit, the resolution at 300 dpi, and set your file format to PSD, which is the standard Photoshop document format.
- Another helpful scan tip is to preview your scan before you scan. In the scan settings menu you also have the option to preview your scan. Previewing will allow you to see if your image is centered in the scan, if there are any wrinkles or creases, and if there is any dust that you might have missed when you cleaned the scanning bed. If any of these problems are noticed, take a moment to realign, flatten or clean your image before scanning.
