Retiring can be both a bittersweet time and a time of relief. Celebrating your retirement with friends and loved ones and making it a happy time can help you through this transition. If you or someone you know is about to retire, learn some funny tips on making your retirement something to enjoy. - A good, old-fashioned roast can be a funny and lighthearted way to celebrate leaving the workplace. Gather together co-workers and friends and, instead of toasting the retiree, you roast them. Roasting means you give them lighthearted jabs, perhaps say you're thankful they'll be gone jokingly, or what a poor job they did, again jokingly and all in good fun.
- A surprise party can be a pleasant way to ring in the new phase in a retiree's life. You can have it at the office, where they may least expect it, on their last day. Friends and family can wait at home or at a favorite restaurant. Either way, the reaction on the retiree's face will be hilarious and priceless.
- A funny gift can make retirement a laughing good time. Think ironic, but not mean. Consider gifts like a jar labeled retirement fund or an empty planner that shows nothing but free time. Anything works that will jokingly point out that the retiree is in for a lot of free time and getting up there in age.
- To take their mind off of the last day of work, one funny idea is to pull pranks on the retiree. Pranks can include prank-calling them, hiding their office supplies or work tools, telling them they need to stay late, leaving gags on their desk, moving all of their office furniture to the janitor's closet and anything fun. Of course, make sure that pranks aren't dangerous and they won't cause trouble.
