Moves Made by Nets May Progress Squad against Sportsbook Probabilities

The New Jersey Nets were a pretty poor team last year vs the NBA sportsbook probabilities but with a new owner, a lot of salary cap space and a new head coach, the New Jersey Nets may be better in 2010 in NBA betting.

The Nets have not been able to make a big free agent splash so it may take time for them to make huge improvements vs the basketball sportsbook online probabilities.

The Nets did sign forward Travis Outlaw to a five-year, $35 million deal but he's not thought to be a premier player. He averaged 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 23 competitions for the Los Angeles Clippers last season after coming over from Portland. He's averaged 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in seven seasons and is a nice complementary player but not a star.

Do not discount Outlaw yet, however. The crucial reason, he has said, that he determined to join the New Jersey Nets was simple: They had no small forward, and they were willing to take a chance on him. For most of his career, he's been a steady 6th man, earning him the nickname "Mr Fourth Quarter" for his late competition heroics. But now head coach Avery Johnson has promised him more than that. Watch for a motivated Outlaw to be given the chance to demonstrate himself as a quality player in the approaching season.

Mikhail Prokhorov, who is willing to spend money, is the Nets' new owner, but all of the big name free agents decided against going to New Jersey. The Nets may add other players before next season since they still have a lot of salary cap room but head coach Avery Johnson will most likely have to wait another year for huge help. New Jersey is looking at including either Tyrus Thomas or Luis Scola but both of those players are below the elite level.

Free agents like LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer and Rudy Gay avoided the New Jersey Nets, even though New Jersey has a lot of money to spend. It also looks as though New York's David Lee has minor interest in the New Jersey Nets. LeBron James in particular made it clear he was looking for a team with a winning history, one who would give him a championship before the end of his career. And he seemingly did not feel as though the New Jersey Nets would supply that.

The Nets may look to free up all the more cap room for 2001 or 2012 since they were spurned by leading free agents this time. The Nets are discussing offers with Indiana and Portland for Danny Granger and LaMarcus Aldridge. The Nets may get rid of their contracts after this season to free up money if they got those 2 players to aid them this season.

New Jersey was 12-70 last season straight up. They weren't a whole lot better vs the spread as they went 33-48-1. Since they did not make a big free agent splash, they probably will not be improved enough to make the playoffs, though the New Jersey Nets should be improved this season.
