2009 BCS Championship Preview
The college football season will come to an end tonight, as the Florida Gators and the Oklahoma Sooners battle it out for the BCS Championship. The highly anticipated game has received plenty of betting action, with the vast majority of it coming on the Florida Gators. The Gators opened as 3-point favorites and the line is up to 5.5 or 6 depending on your sportsbook. The total opened 71.5 and after dropping to 69 has inched back up to 70.
The public is backing Florida to the tune of 63-percent and the sports services are on the Gators by an even larger margin. At last count nearly 80-percent of the services were on the Gators.
That's really all I need to know which way to bet in this one. It shouldn't come as a surprise to regular readers of the site to know that I'm going to go the other way and take Oklahoma.
We've all heard how good Florida's defense is and they have put up some impressive numbers all season. But they also play in the offensively challenged SEC and have seen nothing like they'll see from Oklahoma tonight.
On the other side of the ball, the Sooners have seen some of the best offenses in the nation and it's unlikely that the Gators will present anything the Sooners haven't seen all year. Oklahoma is solid against the run and if they can stop the Gators' rushing game, I like their chances to pull off the upset.
I'll take a shot with the unpopular team in this one.
