Some Of The Benefits To Be Had After Signing Up With Forums For People With ADD Or ADHD

Before I begin, I should just mention that I've never been a big fan of forums.
In fact, I'm not really a fan of social networking sites either.
Nonetheless, if you have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) then I would certainly recommend that you begin visiting some of the forums for people with ADD or ADHD.
If you are reading this because you have a child with one of these disorders, then I also suggest you take a look at a few forums.
As is only to be expected, there are those forums which are a complete waste of time, but there are also several that are phenomenal.
The amount of information available on some of these sites is astonishing.
You are likely to discover facts which you have never seen mentioned before, and facts which not even your doctor bothered discussing.
Likewise, you will have access to countless tips, many of which can be invaluable to a person that's trying to cope with an ADHD child.
Last but not least; you will inevitably come face to face with some startling truths regarding routine ADD and ADHD treatments.
In fact, it was on these forums for people with ADD or ADHD that I first discovered that several kids have taken their own lives due to the use of ADHD prescription drugs.
Don't be surprised if you come across a grieving parent.
I did, and it was a heart wrenching experience.
However, it also motivated me to do some research.
At first, I honestly believed there was no truth in such claims, but once I started digging deeper, I discovered otherwise.
ADHD drug related suicides are far more common than what most parents like to believe.
I mention parents here because judging from the research I did, most victims of suicide tend to be kids and teenagers.
I guess adults are somewhat more bullet proof.
These forums are certainly not only frequented by people who are opposed to the use of prescription drugs.
To the contrary, it would seem most members are in favor of the drugs.
This is especially true when it comes to parents.
In a way, one can't really blame them.
Their ADHD child is given a month's supply of these drugs, and the change in their behavior is almost instantaneous.
A child, who is typically uncontrollable, suddenly becomes a delightful child.
Their school work improves and of course their overall behavior improves.
Despite the convenience of these drugs, I personally would not want to keep my children permanently drugged, and I am also not willing to take the risk of losing them to suicide, or to one of the other serious side effects which can be caused by these drugs.
