How to Rig Fishing Line Using Anchovies for Freshwater Striper

- 1). Buy frozen anchovies. If you can't find them, buy a few tins of canned anchovies, separate them and place them loosely in a freezer bag. Freeze overnight. Don't clump them or it will be a hassle to separate them while fishing.
- 2). Take a frozen anchovy and cut it in half.
- 3). Bait your hook with half an anchovy. Don't worry about concealing the hook barb inside the bait.
- 4). Rig the line with sufficient weight to get the bait down to the stripers, which are deep-running fish. Use a depth finder or ask someone familiar with the waters where you'll be fishing
- 5). Keep the anchovies frozen in a cooler. Use dry ice if you can. Frozen anchovies will stay longer on the hook. Thawed anchovies are a smelly mess to fish.
