How to Install a Remote to a 2005 Toyota Rav4
- 1). Unlock and open the driver's door with all of the other doors shut.
- 2). Put the key in the ignition but do not turn the key. Pull the key out and repeat once more. You have five seconds to finish this step.
- 3). Close and open the driver's door twice. Put the key in the ignition without turning it, then pull it out of the ignition. You must do this within 40 seconds.
- 4). Close and open the driver's door two times. Put the key in the ignition and leave it in, do not turn the key. Close the driver's door, turn the ignition on, then off. Remove the key from the ignition. You must compete this step within 40 seconds. The power door locks will lock and unlock automatically to signify that the vehicle has entered "Programing" mode. If this doesn't happen, start over at Step 1.
- 5). Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously and hold them down for 1.5 seconds, then release the buttons. Press the lock button and hold it down for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the doors should lock and unlock to signify that the remote has successfully been programed. If the doors lock and unlock twice, the remote was rejected and you must start this step over.
