- 1). Open iTunes and find a song that you'd like to convert to a ringtone. Click on the song once to highlight it.
- 2). Click "Advanced" on the menu at the top of the iTunes window. Select "Create AAC version." ITunes will create a new version of the song encoded with the AAC format. The new version will be added to your iTunes library.
- 3). Click on the new song and drag it to your desktop. Rename the file so that it has an "m4r" extension rather than the current ".m4a".
- 4). Drag the renamed file back onto the iTunes window and drop it under the "Library" column. ITunes will import it as a new ringtone.
- 5). Sync your iPhone with iTunes and then select the song as the ringtone to be used on the phone.
