Solve Your Child"s Homework Problem

As a parent one of your biggest concerns is your child's reluctance to get the homework done on time or even done at all.
You have tried everything from grounding them or even cutting back their allowance but at the end of the year their teacher tells you the same thing "your child does not hand his/her homework on time!" Here are a few suggestions to prevent that from happening again this year: 1) Set up a proper environment for your child to do their homework in.
Your child should have a writing desk with all necessary materials to do their school work on.
If it is possible then this should be in a room without distractions such as a television or a computer.
If your child prefers to do their homework on their bed or on the floor do not discourage them, instead try and provide all the necessary materials in that place so they don't have to go around the house looking for anything.
2) Give your child incentives to do their homework.
Try and set long term incentives for your children to get their homework done.
This can be something like a trip to the movies if they successfully hand in their homework on time for a whole month.
3) Try not to set up a fixed amount of time for your child to do their homework.
Instead try and work on an objective based approach.
If your child finishes their homework on time let them watch their favorite show on TV.
4) Establish a good relationship with your teacher.
This helps in knowing which your child's weaknesses are and strengths so that you can help them in their homework in areas they are lacking in.
Finally, I would like to stress the fact that every child is unique in their own way.
You will have to sit with your child and see what is distracting them from doing their homework and make it a challenge to get them to like doing their homework.
