How to Add Music to an iPod Without Losing Music
- 1). Open the iTunes application on your computer.
- 2). Plug the wide end of the iPod's cable into the dock port on the iPod. The dock port can be found on the bottom of the iPod.
- 3). Plug the USB end of the cable into the USB port on the computer. The USB port on your computer and the USB cable have matching symbols printed on it for easy identification.
- 4). Quickly click the "X" button in the display window of the iTunes program to cancel the automatic synchronization. Click the iPod icon underneath the Devices section in the iTunes sidebar.
- 5). Click the empty box next to "Manually manage music and videos", then click the Apply button to save the new settings.
- 6). Locate the songs you want to transfer by clicking the "Music" tab underneath the Library header in the iTunes' sidebar.
- 7). Drag and drop the songs to the "iPod" tab underneath the Devices header. The transfer status will appear in the iTunes display window at the top of the iTunes program.
- 8). Click the arrow button on the right side of the iPod tab to disconnect the iPod from iTunes.
