How to Start a Pug Rescue

• 1). Contact your financial adviser or accountant to keep an accurate tally of all of the funds entering and exiting your pug rescue business. Keep records of all income and losses.
  
  
• 2). Promote your pug rescue by displaying fliers with local business and displaying your business card everywhere. Use free websites to promote your business, as well as online classifieds sites such as craigslist. Check out other sites such as The Pug Rescue Network.
  
  
• 3). Create a website in which you will upload photos of pugs in need of adoption and a brief history about each pug. Leave contact information for prospective pug owners, as well as for owners who need to relinquish their rights to a pug.
  
  
• 4). Set up your home office with files for each pug to be rescued. Be sure to list things like who the original owner was, any physical impairments or conditions that pug may have. Store copies of registered papers and health records with the photo of each pet in its own file
  
  
• 5). Create a pug foster application for assistants who may want to donate their time to fostering a pug until the pug finds a permanent home. Be sure to ask some tough questions, such as if they have the financial means to take care of a pug, if they have other pets that are aggressive and if they have the time to devote to the pug. These same questions can be asked to the adoptive parents as well. Create separate applications for both fostering and adoption and post them on your website. Keep hard copies for prospective parents.
  
  
• 6). Set up a space or kennel in your home for pugs that don't yet have a foster home. Also keep a supply of dog food, dishes, leashes and collars. Have plenty of water on hand, as well as medical supplies for emergencies.
  
  
• 7). Find a forever home for each pug in need. You may opt to charge a nominal fee for adopting each pug. A good way to determine a fee is by keeping track of all of the money you have invested in the care of the pug, such as gas, medical and food expenses.
