How to Build a Corner Waterfall

    • 1). Prepare to dig up the catch basin for your corner waterfall. After being cleared by your utility company use a garden hose to outline the shape of the basin for the waterfall. In order for the water to circulate to the waterfall properly the length and the width should be at least two feet by two feet, so it will hold at least 200 gallons of water.

    • 2). Excavate the ground for the basin with a shovel, making the depth of the basin approximately two feet deep. Be sure to remove any unwanted debris in the hole such as twigs or rocks.

    • 3). Insert the pond liner into the excavated hole and smooth out any creases or wrinkles. Pull up the edges of the liner over the sides of the catch basin and place rocks on top, securing the pond liner into place. Lay the pond filter into the basin and connect one end of a water line tube to it.

    • 4). Remove the top layer of soil in the area that you plan to add the waterfall stream. Where you place the waterfall stream is completely up to you. Just ensure that it begins directly at the edge of the basin. Considering the size of the basin, the waterfall stream can be at least two feet wide and five feet long, but it's your decision.

    • 5). Place the pond pump into the section of the waterfall stream and connect the other end of the waterline tube to it. Connect another water line to the pump, laying the tube down horizontally so that the opening is facing the basin.

    • 6). Arrange large rocks in the waterfall stream section. You will want to overlap and stack the rocks, giving the illusion that the waterfall stream is of higher ground even if it isn't. Be sure to overhang three or four rocks over the catch basin. Adding these rocks will discreetly hide the pond pump and water line, giving your corner waterfall a natural appearance.

    • 7). Fill the catch basin with water and turn on the filter. You will then need to prime the pond pump so that your corner waterfall will begin working, however it's important to refer to the user manual of your pond pump before priming. Every pump works differently.
