How to Set Up a Tetra Pond Filter
- 1). Inspect the package contents and parts list to ensure all the listed parts are included. If you are missing a part, return to the store for a replacement unit. Place all the parts of the filter out on your workstation.
- 2). Put together the overflow pipe. This is the 1¼-inch pipe. The rubber washers go on the outside of the filter housing unit. Tighten the screws so they are secure.
- 3). Pour the plastic biological filter media into the base of the filter unit. Make sure it is equally dispersed.
- 4). Place the black filter foam on top of the plastic biological filter media. Then add the blue filter foam on top of the black.
- 5). Put together the inlet and spray bar. There are two inlets to choose from, the venturi or universal. Choose the one that is appropriate for the size of your pond's pump outflow. The pump is not included with the filter unit, and each one will have a different outflow. When putting together the inlet and spray bar, the rubber washers should be located on either side of the filter's housing unit. Tighten the screws so they are secure.
- 6). Determine the location in the pond you would like to place your assembled filter. The overflow pipe should be sticking up from the surface of the pond slightly. Measure the length of plastic piping you will need, based on the location you chose. Cut the 1¼-inch plastic piping and attach it to the filter through the water inlet you selected in step 5.
- 7). Place the filter in your chosen location. Attach the other end of the plastic piping from step 6 into your chosen pond pump to complete your setup.
