- 1). Insert the data you would like for the chart into your worksheet. For example, you may want to create a chart for salesperson performance over the last year. You know that "John" sold 1,200 products, "Jane" sold 1,401 products and "Cory" sold 1,459 products. Enter "John" into cell A1, "Jane" into cell A2, "Cory" into cell A3, "1,200" into cell B1, "1,401" into cell B2 and "1,459" into cell B3.
- 2). Highlight the data by left-clicking on the top left cell (in this example, that's cell A1) and dragging the cursor down to the bottom right cell (cell B3 in this example).
- 3). Click on the "Insert" tab and then choose "Graph."
- 4). Click on the icon for the type of graph you would like. For example, click on "2D pie chart."
- 5). Click "OK." Excel will insert the chosen graph into your worksheet.
