- 1). Click the "Start" button found on the computer's desktop. A menu opens.
- 2). Type "Device Manager" into the search box located at the bottom of the "Start" menu and hit the "Enter" key. The device manager window opens. Inside the device manager window you see a list of the hardware that is installed on your machine. The hardware are assembled into groups based on the purpose they serve.
- 3). Double click the "DVD/CD-ROM Drives" heading to open a list of CD and DVD players installed on the computer.
- 4). Right click on the name of the player for which you need a driver upgrade and choose "Update Driver Software" from the options available. The driver update wizard comes into view.
- 5). Click the option that reads "Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software" to have Windows begin to seek a new driver. Windows installs the updated driver for the device.
