How to Move an OS to a New HD Laptop
- 1). Check your license agreement and see if it allows for multiple computers. If not, you will have to contact Microsoft and pay for a new code.
- 2). Insert the installation disc into the new HD laptop.
- 3). Wait for the disc to open on the screen. If it doesn't, navigate to the disc via the Start Menu.
- 4). Click "Install now."
- 5). Follow the automated steps. Read and accept the license agreement, provide the product code and choose whether you want a general or a custom install. Because the HD laptop is new, you will not have to worry about backing up your files before doing this, so you will likely not need to perform a custom install.
