Beautiful Flowering Trees and Bushes
- Camellia (Camellia japonica) shrubs bloom with red to pink double and single flowers. An evergreen, the camellia has glossy, deep green foliage. These shrubs thrive in acidic, sandy soil and partial shade. The cigarette plant (Cuphea micropetala) produces tubular, orange blossoms. This evergreen grows up to 5 feet tall and tolerates a range of sun and soil conditions. The painted buckeye tree (Aesculus sylvatica) blooms with showy, reddish-orange blossoms This 10-foot-tall tree is a North American native. Another native, the red buckeye (Aesculus pavia), produces large, red flowers. This tree grows up to 15 feet tall.
