• The wind will often blow leaves and other debris into your pool. Such items need to be removed from your pool regularly. Use a skimmer to remove this type of debris from the water's surface. A skimmer is a fine-mesh net attached to a long pole. Hold the skimmer by the pole and skim the net across the pool's surface to trap debris in the net. Empty the net in the yard.
