How to Live With Dogs In a Mobile Home
- 1). Choose smaller dogs. If you do not have a dog but want to get one to stay in your mobile home, try to pick a small breed, such as a Pekingese, Shih-Tzu or dachshund. For obvious reasons, these types will fit much more easily into your chosen home and lifestyle. They will be less likely to accidentally bump into objects in the trailer, as well as have you trip over them while you are walking around in it.
- 2). Have only one larger dog at a time. If you own a larger dog, try not to have more than one of these animals in your trailer. Not only will it become very crowded very fast, especially if more than one person is living in the trailer, but bad behavior is often exacerbated in the presence of another dog. Big dogs are capable of causing more damage in almost any area of a house. And because pack mates tend to encourage each other's conduct, if one begins shredding up the toilet paper, for instance, the other one is likely to follow suit.
- 3). Check any dog-related rules if you live in a trailer park. They may have restrictions regarding what kind of dog you can have, how many and where they can eliminate. The last thing you want to have happen is buy a mobile home or bring home a new puppy, only to find out you must give up one or the other in order to comply with local ordinances.
- 4). Follow any dog-related rules that are in place. Failing to do so can result in fines, eviction and even the removal of your dog.
- 5). Take the dog out regularly. This will decrease the odds of it eliminating in the trailer, which causes terrible odors in the tiny space that are difficult to remove.
