I raised a teenage son and even though it was hard at times I developed him into a great man and he thanks me to this day for it.
Here are some of my top tips for those of you out there who are raising a teenage son.
Listen - Your teenage son and you will both have disagreements but you have to accept those and always remember to be working towards a solution that the both of you can agree with.
For example, you might think that giving your son a ten dollar note for doing the yard work should motivate him.
Why not let him pick something to work towards.
You get him to do the work and he gets a reward that he wants and will work towards gladly.
When your son is talking always make sure to not be judging what they are saying and waiting for your turn to speak.
Really listen to them.
Hear what they are saying.
And before you speak try and see what your son would think if you could hear his inner thoughts.
Never drop your moral code - If your son asks you a question about morals and you say something like "I never lie, its not fair" and you must then follow through on this daily.
Never lie and especially never let your son see you lie.
You are the moral code that your son bases his life on and you have to be as close to moral perfection every single day.
Instill Morals and discipline - Teaching your son the benefits of morals in his live is a great way for raising your teenage son.
Teach his the benefit of teamwork by helping him find a sport or activity he enjoys where he can interact with others.
