Wisconsin Apple Festivals

      Wisconsin is located in the midwestern United States between Minnesota and Michigan. Known for its dairy products, Wisconsin also has many apple orchards. Every fall, apple festivals take place throughout the state. Visitors to these festivals can look forward to apple pie contests, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors and musicians. With something for all ages, apple festivals are a great way to spend a fall weekend in Wisconsin.

    Gays Mills Apple Festival

    • Every September, AppleFest takes place in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. Located in the southwest portion of the state, Gays Mills is known as the apple capital of Wisconsin, according to its website. The two-day event involves many activities for all-ages, including a two and five mile run, a non-competitive walk and a Kids Fun Run. There are food stands located throughout the festival that sell apples, apple pie, sandwiches and coffee. Visitors can participate in a horseshoe tournament, arts and crafts and a book sale. The Apple Festival wraps up with an Apple Race and a parade.

    Bayfield Apple Festival

      Bayfield, Wisconsin is located in the northern portion of the state on Lake Superior. For more than 48 years, the town has held the Bayfield Apple Festival. The Society of American Travel Writers listed the festival on the top-ten list of autumn festivals in North America, according to the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce. The festival takes place in October over three days and includes orchard farmers, artists and musicians. Visitors can look forward to apples in all forms, including apple butter, pie, cookies, wine, ale and apple bratwurst, according to the Bayfield Applefest. More than 150 arts and crafts vendors work at the festival, as well as an apple pie contest, kids' carnival and a boat parade.

    Galesville Apple Affair

      The Galesville Apple Affair has been taking place every October since 1983. The three-day festival begins with a spaghetti dinner on Friday night, followed by a breakfast on the square in downtown Galesville. The town's famous 10-foot apple pie is a much anticipated part of the festival, as well as food stands of local apple orchards. Visitors can snack on caramel apples, apple pie and Apple Normandy. Local bands provide music throughout the festival and arts and crafts vendors can be found throughout the square. Visitors can also take bike tours of varying degrees of difficulty of the area's apple orchards.
