- 1). Ensure that your telephone carrier allows you to make international calls. This is usually automatic on land-line phones. Most cell phone providers require users to request international dialing access.
- 2). Determine the rate your long distance or cell phone provider will charge you for the call. Some international calls can cost several dollars per minute and you can quickly amass large bills.
- 3). Dial "011" on your phone to access international dialing. If you are calling from a cell phone or computer, you can use the "+" sign on the keypad instead of dialing "011."
- 4). Dial "234." This is the Country Code for Nigeria.
- 5). Dial the area code of the number you wish to call. Nigerian area codes consist of either one or two digits.
- 6). Dial the desired phone number. The number will be between five and seven digits. The entire number including the area code will never exceed 8 digits.
