Never Leave a Child Alone Near Water
You should never leave a child of any age alone near water of any kind, because if the child cannot swim chances are the child will fall in and drowned.
Anyone that owns a pool should first teach his or her children to swim.
When in the process of teaching a child to swim use, floaties on their arms just in case they go under water, the floaties will keep them from completely going under water.
However, floaties help to teach the child to float, but will not keep them from sinking.
Therefore, teach your kids to swim the way you learned to swim, hold them under their bellies and tell them to kick and drag their arms through the water.
While they are kicking and moving around in the water, move around with them in the shallow area of the pool.
Never go in the deep part of the pool with a child that does not know how to swim, because if the child starts to go under they will freak out and that could be dangerous.
No child is born knowing how to swim, but children as well as adults can be, taught how to swim.
However, for some they pick it up easy, even though your child may seem like a good swimmer adult supervision is still required.
On the other hand, you never know what may happen around a swimming pool.
In addition, set certain rules around the swimming pool, and read it to your children.
Therefore, have them read it out load to everyone that comes over to swim with them.
This will give them a clear message that there will be no running, no pushing, and most of all no horseplay while anywhere around the pool.
